The reporter learned that the total land area of the data center project is 133 acres, focusing on the construction of high-standard data centers and Midea Guizhou Software Center. The total investment in five years is about 1.355 billion yuan, and the total planned data center racks will exceed 10,000 within ten years.

Fang Hongbo, Chairman and President of Midea Group, attended the signing ceremony and delivered a speech, saying that “Driven by Digital Intelligence” is one of the four strategic paths of Midea Group. Midea will continue to increase digital investment and build a digital Midea Group. Midea cloud project in Gui’an will further introduce a software R&D center to develop innovative businesses such as manufacturing cloud services.

Zhang Xiaoyi, vice president of Midea Group, said in an interview with reporters that Midea Group’s data volume is growing exponentially, and the company’s data center in Foshan is expected to be relatively tight by the end of 2024. “We need to start construction as soon as possible. To be a digital Midea, The computing power of digital enterprises is the core competitiveness, and this is what we must do.”

In addition, he also explained to reporters that if Midea wants to develop an overall manufacturing cloud solution, the company’s computing power needs to be further enhanced, which is also an important reason for Midea Group to set up a new data center in Gui’an.

The reporter learned that on February 17 this year, the National Development and Reform Commission and other departments jointly issued a document to officially launch the “East and West” project. Guizhou Gui’an data center cluster is one of the eight major computing power hub nodes deployed by the country. By the end of 2021, Gui’an has built 8 super-large data centers, and domestic or foreign technology giants such as the three major telecom operators (China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom), Tencent, Huawei, and Apple have already landed data centers in Gui’an.
