The Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) Global Forum and the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) have announced a new collaboration plan aimed at supporting the development of new optical technologies and optical infrastructure solutions.
Two organizations reported that through this initiative, they will focus on researching concepts and components, and promote collaborative activities and market development.
TIP Chief Technology Officer Olli Andersson stated that this collaboration will promote the development of sustainable, low latency networks that can reliably meet the growing demand for connectivity.
Andersson said in a press release, “The collaboration with the IOWN Global Forum emphasizes TIP’s commitment to advancing the development of optical networks that meet future communication infrastructure needs. By combining TIP’s operator oriented model with the forum’s open vision for all-optical networks (APNs), we are facilitating the deployment of innovative optical solutions.”
Hans Werner Bitzer, Chairman of the IOWN Liaison Working Group, stated that the two organizations share a common interest in accelerating the development of next-generation optical infrastructure.
Bitzer said in the same press release, “Our work with TIP marks an important step towards realizing the vision of a more advanced and sustainable communication infrastructure.”
TIP states that its model focuses on deploying in real-world environments through sub projects, testing, and laboratory validation, and its optical packet transmission framework is compatible with IOWN’s open all-optical network architecture, enabling this collaboration to fully leverage the strengths of both parties in the field of optical networks.
