On October 31, the China International Information and Communication Exhibition (Beijing Exhibition) opened in Beijing in 2019. The conference focused on the new development in the field of communications and attracted the participation of many equipment manufacturers, operators and scientific research institutions. During the period, Chen Yong, the chief engineer of OTN product planning of ZTE’s bearer network, said at the China Light Summit Forum that 5G has brought a strong driving force for the development of optical networks, and the future optical network will continue to accelerate toward greater capacity and higher speed.

With the advent of 5G, service types and application scenarios are becoming more and more complex, users’ requirements for network experience are gradually increasing, and network service carrying efficiency and operation and maintenance efficiency are receiving much attention. In this regard, Chen Yong said: “The development of optical networks will show an upward trend in the next five years, and the super 100G will be the mainstream interface.”

In the era of the 100G, you need to explore higher speed network bandwidth solutions. How to balance the capacity and transmission capacity, realize network expansion and provide customers with high-quality service experience, and meet the massive data demand brought by large video and high-speed private lines, which is the core of optical transport network evolution. Chen Yong believes that the further improvement of bandwidth in the future is inseparable from the three main directions of the development of optoelectronic integration technology, the increase of baud rate and the further expansion of spectrum resources. ZTE’s Flex Shaping technology combines unique optical domain shaping technology with electrical domain shaping technology to achieve the best match between transmission distance and capacity, reduce the cost of WSS punch-through, increase the number of punch-throughs, and help the mission beyond 100G.

At the same time, how to quickly and easily deploy the network is another key demand for telecom operations. Introducing artificial intelligence to realize network intelligence and automatic deployment, and building a smart OTN network will become an inevitable trend of future optical network development. ZTE’s open, convenient and intelligent management and control system can provide full lifecycle optimization and service from planning, management to operation and maintenance. It can better coordinate all aspects of business resources and accelerate the practice of business deployment and opening. At the same time, it automatically evaluates, diagnoses faults, analyzes potential risks, and improves operation and maintenance efficiency.

In addition, as the wind vane of the core competitiveness, the self-developed chip capability of communication equipment manufacturers has attracted more and more attention. ZTE is one of the few manufacturers in the industry that has implemented OTN end-to-end core chip research and has a precedent for successful commercial use. Its newly developed fourth-generation core switch chip and framing chip, with ultra-large capacity, ultra-high integration and intelligent functions, can achieve single-slot 1T/2T backplane bandwidth and the industry’s largest 64T/128T cross-platform.

ZTE is the world’s leading provider of integrated communications solutions. The company provides innovative technology and product solutions to telecom operators and enterprise network customers in more than 160 countries and regions around the world, enabling users worldwide to enjoy all-round communication such as voice, data, multimedia and wireless broadband. At present, ZTE has fully served the global mainstream operators and enterprise network customers. As the world’s first 5G commercial deployment began, as of the end of September 2019, ZTE Corporation has obtained 35 5G commercial contracts worldwide, covering major 5G markets such as China, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, with more than 60 global markets.
