The first domestic commercial equipment for underwater wireless optical communication was tested in Wuhan, Hubei Province and succeeded. The long-distance communication distance can reach 50 m, the speed can reach 3 Mbps, and the communication speed can reach 50 Mbps at a distance of 20 m.
The LC50CCA-50/40WD dual-light source underwater wireless optical communication equipment developed by Wuhan Liubo Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. and other units was completed at the end of last year. Underwater communication tests were carried out in December last year and January this year. The experimental results of Mbps communication rate and tens of meters communication distance can transmit various information such as video, pictures and text underwater.
The development and collection of marine resources are almost inseparable from underwater communication. The research of underwater wireless communication technology has attracted widespread attention. Traditional underwater wireless communication mainly uses sound waves and underwater radio frequencies. Due to the low frequency of sound waves, the communication rate is only on the order of kbps, which cannot meet the requirements of underwater high-speed communication. Radio frequency waves can range from tens of Hz to GHz, but only ultra-low frequency signals of 30-300 Hz can propagate in conductive seawater, because high-frequency signals will be greatly attenuated. Therefore, the modulation bandwidth of underwater radio frequency communication is relatively low, resulting in limited data rates in short distances.
