Ribbon announced a partnership with the Dutch Educational and Research IT Cooperation Organization SURF, which has successfully achieved 800G power on a 1650 kilometer fiber optic link that connects research institutions including Nikhef to the Large Hadron Collider located on the campus of the European Nuclear Research Center in Geneva.

Apollo TM800_2 adopts industry-leading 5nm-140Gbaud transmission technology, providing optimized 800G transmission capacity.
Apollo open fiber optic line system, including hybrid EDFA Raman amplifiers, maximizes the capacity of SURF’s brown ground G655 and G652 fibers, and has the ability to carry wavelengths from third-party suppliers.
The NPT 2400 metropolitan router is interoperable with SURF networks and provides 2x400GbE uplink for EVPN services on BGP to 8x100G ports on the network.
