On December 11th, according to foreign media reports, Oracle, a commercial database software company, integrated cloud application and platform service provider, has released its financial report for the second fiscal quarter of fiscal 2021. The revenue and net profit of the quarter are both year-on-year, reflecting an increase.

Oracle’s second fiscal quarter’s financial report was released on Thursday, local time. The financial report showed that Oracle’s revenue was US$9.8 billion for the quarter ended November 30, which was higher than the US$9.614 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.  This is higher than the 9.367 billion US dollars in the previous fiscal quarter, a year-on-year increase of 2% and a month-on-month increase of 4.6%.

Oracle has been vigorously developing cloud computing business in recent years. Cloud services and related businesses are also the main source of their revenue.

According to the financial report, Oracle’s cloud services and authorization support business’s revenue for the second fiscal quarter was $7.112 billion, contributing 72% of Oracle’s revenue for the quarter, which was higher than the $6.811 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year; cloud authorization and on-site authorization business operations revenue of US$1.092 billion was slightly lower than the US$1.126 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year. The proportion of Oracle’s total revenue for the quarter also fell from 12% to 11%. These two cloud-related businesses together contributed $8.204 billion in revenue for Oracle’s fiscal quarter.

The other two of the four businesses listed in Oracle’s financial report are hardware and services. The former’s revenue in the second quarter was US$844 million, and the latter’s revenue was US$752 million, both compared to the same period last fiscal year. There are varying degrees of decline.

Although Oracle’s revenue in the second fiscal quarter increased year on year, operating expenses did not increase as a result, but decreased. The financial report shows that Oracle’s operating expenses for this fiscal quarter were US$6.217 billion, a decrease of US$214 million from the US$6.431 billion in the same period last fiscal year.

Increase in revenue year-on-year and decrease in operating expenses, which means that Oracle’s second-quarter profit will increase year-on-year. The financial report shows that Oracle’s operating profit for this fiscal quarter was US$3.583 billion, compared with US$3.183 billion in the same period last fiscal year, an increase of 13% year-on-year.

In terms of net profit, the financial report showed that the second fiscal quarter was US$2.442 billion, which was higher than the US$2.311 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year and also higher than the US$2.251 billion in the previous fiscal quarter.
