DZS, the global leader of access, optical and cloud control software definition solutions, announced that Optico Fiber, the main provider of Puerto Rico’s next-generation Internet services, will use DZS access EDGE and Subscriber EDGE solutions to launch the first 10 gigabit per second (Gbps) network on the island, bringing world-class symmetric multi-gigabit broadband services to Puerto Rico’s residents and enterprises. As a long-term customer of DZS, Optico Fiber is expanding its existing DZS Velocity system, adopting system-on-card technology, capable of supporting gigabit PON (GPON), 10 gigabit symmetric (XGS) – PON and 10Gbps point-to-point technology of any port, as well as the latest DZS Helix gateway, providing the entire family and business coverage through the most advanced WiFi technology.

DZSCarlo Marazzi, President and CEO of Optico Fiber, said: “Optico Fiber’s strategic upgrade of 10gig network with seamless adoption of multi-gigabit Internet services by residential and corporate users has expanded the company’s position as a technology leader in the Puerto Rican market. In addition, the ability to deploy multi-gig WiFi 6 technology at each user site has laid the foundation for the best coverage and excellent broadband service experience. Since 2006, DZS has been our trusted technology partner, and we are very happy with them The ability to provide first-class solutions gives us a clear competitive advantage in the market. We are also excited about the potential of the new DZS cloud software products to expand this business value, especially their CloudCheck home WiFi experience management solution and express service assurance solution, which can improve Puerto Rico’s best broadband experience to another level.”
Charlie Vogt, president and CEO of DZS, said: “DZS is proud and honored that our long-term partner, Optico Fiber, uses our next-generation technology to bring groundbreaking broadband services to Puerto Rico. As more and more residential and commercial customers need ultra-high-speed XGS-PON service levels to support use cases such as working at home, playing games without delay, and connecting more mobile and Internet of Things devices, Optico Fiber and other forward-looking ‘experience providers’ will be ready for a strong network The network infrastructure can be upgraded to multi-gig services, and the DZS Cloud EDGE software can be used for continuous experience and service enhancement when needed.”
Alexis Ortiz, General Manager of Optico Fiber, said: “From gigabit broadband service to multi-gigabit broadband service, Optico Fiber is again defined as the pioneer of the next generation broadband service in the Puerto Rico market. The reason why we choose to cooperate with DZS is that compared with our competitors, DZS continues to be superior in flexibility to meet our business needs as a medium-sized operator and technology innovator. Thanks to this transformation, Optico Fiber can even better use our local market to move to a 1000-based The service transformation of megafiber has been proved to be more adaptable to intermittent power outages and other weather challenges affecting our island than traditional cable infrastructure.”
