Nokia has signed a one-year 5G renewal contract with Taiwan Mobile to enhance the performance and capacity of their 5G network and upgrade their 4G/LTE network. This will increase capacity and coverage, and provide a better end-user experience for TWM’s approximately 10 million customer base, including rural areas. This move, following the merger of Taiwan Mobile and Taiwan Star last year, will help Taiwan Mobile prepare for the 5G Advanced era network.
According to the agreement, Nokia will provide its industry-leading 5G AirScale product portfolio of devices in Taiwan for the first time. This includes Nokia’s next-generation modular high-capacity AirScale baseband solution, Habrok 32 and Osprey 32 massive MIMO radio and remote radio head products. These are powered by its energy-efficient ReefShark system chip technology, combined with excellent coverage and capacity. This project will modernize thousands of existing LTE sites to improve energy efficiency and support Taiwan Mobile’s sustainable development goals. Taiwan Mobile will also install Nokia’s IPAA+solution to help them add extra antennas in narrow urban environments.Taiwan Mobile 的图像结果
In addition, Taiwan Mobile will adopt Nokia’s industry-leading carrier aggregation technology in its network. This combines the radio spectrum, significantly improving data rates and providing customers with better throughput, capacity, and performance.
Nokia has been partnering with Taiwan Mobile for over 20 years, previously providing 2G, 3G, and 4G mobile networks covering RAN, mobile core, and voice core. Nokia recently supported the deployment of 5G infrastructure for Taiwan Mobile, including over 3000 new cellular base stations.
“Expanding our partnership with Nokia marks an important step forward in our commitment to providing the best 5G experience to 10 million customers, while also supporting the growing demand for over 1 million IoT devices in our network. By leveraging Nokia’s cutting-edge AirScale product portfolio, we have not only improved network performance and capacity, but also strengthened our commitment to sustainable development and advanced our telecommunications+technology strategy. This collaboration will enable us to provide excellent connectivity to urban and rural areas, ensuring that all of our customers can enjoy the full benefits of the 5G era.”
“Nokia is partnering with Taiwan Mobile to modernize its 5G and 4G networks to provide higher performance and coverage, as well as a better customer experience. We are deploying the latest devices in the AirScale energy-saving product portfolio, which will make the network more environmentally friendly, reduce its impact on the environment, and contribute to the operator’s sustainable development goals,” said Tommi Uitto, President of Nokia Mobile Networks.
