Nokia announced that Team Telecom of Armenia has deployed its 25G PON optical fiber solution, making it one of the first operators in the Caucasus and Central Asia to provide the fastest commercial Internet speed. The deployment of 25G PON aims to cover B2B users and provide true 20Gb/s symmetric broadband speed, which is crucial for driving emerging applications and commercial services in the digital economy.
Nokia’s fiber broadband solution is designed to support various PON technologies from GPON to 25G PON and above, providing operators with more choices and flexibility to optimize their networks based on specific business cases and needs. Based on the Quillion chipset, Nokia’s 25G PON fiber broadband solution allows Team Telecom Armenia to reuse its existing fiber broadband equipment to immediately meet the demand for larger capacity and enhanced broadband services. The new 25G PON product from Armenia will help Team Telecom Armenia provide faster connections for its customers and open the door to new enhanced services such as enterprise solutions, 5G mobile transmission, and network wholesale.
Hayk Yesayan, CEO of Team Telecom Armenia, said: “We are at the forefront of Armenia’s technological revolution, which will set new standards for our customers’ Internet speed and reliability. As a national operator, we regard this project as part of our mission, not only to enhance Yerevan’s broadband services, but also to promote a new digital era in the whole country. Using Nokia’s most advanced technology means that our network is oriented to the future, and ensure that our customers can enjoy the best online experience now and in the next few years.”
Matthieu Bourguignon, Senior Vice President and Head of European Network Infrastructure Business at Nokia, commented, “Our collaboration marks an important milestone in utilizing Nokia’s advanced PON technology to provide ultra high speed broadband in the Caucasus and Central Asia. This initiative not only strengthens the connectivity of individuals and businesses in Asia, but also plays a crucial role in the country’s economic and social development.”
Currently, Team Telecom Armenia’s network is based on Nokia 25G PON technology, covering approximately 300000 households in Armenia, and construction work is still actively underway.
