Nokia announced the launch of Broadband Easy, a digital platform and a range of services that can help operators simplify and accelerate the process of deploying fiber optics. The digital platform enables operators to have a comprehensive understanding and control of the entire fiber optic laying process, while advanced automation and artificial intelligence models help ensure that project design, installation, and budgeting are optimized.
The challenge faced by many operators will be to roll out fiber optic to the next billion households in rural or underserved areas. Companies that can digitize the fiber optic laying process are more likely to receive better returns, according to McKinsey, by improving process efficiency, automation, and artificial intelligence technology, they can save 10% to 25% of costs.nokia 的图像结果
Nokia’s Broadband Easy allows operators to digitize the fiber deployment process, providing a modular platform that can be easily integrated into existing IT stacks. Operators can use Broadband Easy to centrally manage the fiber deployment process, control subcontractors, and reduce risks. Additional automation features help optimize design and on-site activities, authenticate fiber factories through real-time data exchange, and generate accurate inventory data. Broadband Easy also uses AI models to improve the quality of on-site installations, validate and accept component installations using AI, control ports assigned to users, and provide on-site training and guidance for technical personnel.
Nokia’s design and deployment management services can help operators who wish to further alleviate the fiber deployment process. Broadband Easy supports external factory suppliers or subcontractors preferred by operators, and pre integrates Nokia Altiplano access controllers and Nokia Design Centers.
Roland Montagne, Chief Analyst at IDATE, said, “The Nokia Broadband Easy platform utilizes advanced artificial intelligence technology to help operators solve critical FTTH deployment challenges, particularly subcontractor management and fiber network certification. This tool will help accelerate the launch of FTTH, as there are still 74 million households in Europe that need connectivity.”
Sandy Motley, president of Nokia fixed network, said: “Through Broadband Easy, we make fiber deployment easier, faster and more cost-effective for operators. By combining our deep expertise in fiber network design and deployment with cutting-edge automation and human intelligence, we are helping operators significantly reduce costs and deployment time, so that more communities can achieve high-speed Internet access faster.”
