Nokia has announced an expanded partnership with T-Mobile Polska, including the modernization of the operator’s existing radio network infrastructure and the rollout of 5G services. The move will support T-Mobile Poland’s strategy of maintaining a technological leadership in the country and providing first-class service to its customers. Under the 10-year deal, Nokia will increase its share of T-Mobile’s network to 50 percent, with deployments already underway.
Nokia will provide T-Mobile Polska with its latest portfolio of AirScale devices, including Single RAN for indoor and outdoor coverage, AirScale base stations and 5G Massive MIMO antennas. T-Mobile Polska plans to use 4G and 5G dynamic spectrum sharing on lower bands, followed by 5G dense urban coverage on the 3.5 GHz band. This will provide 5G coverage and capacity while running 4G LTE to meet user capacity needs. These solutions will enable operators to build on their existing network leadership and offer consumers the connectivity and capacity benefits associated with 5G, while reducing complexity and increasing cost efficiencies.
Nokia will also provide services, including digital deployment, operational technical support and professional services. Nokia has a long-term partnership with T-Mobile Polska, which includes the supply of all radio technologies, especially the successful expansion of 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G DSS networks. Nokia has global R&D facilities in Wroclaw and Krakow with thousands of engineers.
Petri Pehkonen, CTIO of T-Mobile Polska, said: “5G supports our strategy of delivering best-in-class services to our customers, including enterprises. Through this partnership, we will be able to provide our customers and business customers with the best solutions and products. We have chosen Nokia as our long-term partner to modernize our network infrastructure and launch new 5G services as they offer comprehensive solutions and we look forward to working with them going forward.”
Tommi Uitto, President of Mobile Networks at Nokia, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by T-Mobile to upgrade the operator’s existing network infrastructure in Poland, which will bring customers a best-in-class 5G experience. We have partnered with T-Mobile for a long time and are proud of their trust in our technology leadership and product portfolio. I am delighted to see this project take shape with the close collaboration between our teams.”
