Nokia and Budapest Internet exchange point (BIX) recently announced that BIX has successfully deployed the Nokia 7750 SR IP edge routing platform for the modernization of the BIX backbone router network, which will enhance the high-speed and reliable IP connectivity of BIX customers in Central Europe and the Balkans. BIX provides internet peer-to-peer services from regional POPs in Budapest and Vienna.
The Nokia SR platform using FP5 chips provides BIX with highly scalable capacity, unparalleled performance, security, and lower energy consumption. The 800GE capability of FP5 for the future will support seamless upgrades from the 400GE interface, enabling BIX to sustainably meet future needs at lower costs. Nokia’s system design innovation is combined with the industry recognized Business Router Operating System (SR OS) to ensure the network speed, flexibility, and reliability of the 7750 SR system, thereby achieving deterministic capacity expansion and extending the service life of deployed systems.
