Nokia Bell Laboratories, a research unit of Nokia, has signed a non binding research and development cooperation agreement with Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest energy company, to support the creation of industrial 4.0/4IR digital use cases and concept validation development in priority industrial sectors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other regions.
Based on the vision of the recently established Aramco Digital Company, this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to accelerate digital transformation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and even globally. This collaboration aims to leverage the cutting-edge research and technology of the two companies to advance digital use cases for various industries including oil and gas, utilities, mining, manufacturing, and logistics.
It is expected that the two companies will collaborate on research and development, develop joint concept validation solutions, and validate technologies in actual deployment to expand enterprise industrial automation applications, thereby unleashing new potential for industrial operations. This collaboration will also focus on cultivating a comprehensive ecosystem of 5G and emerging technologies to integrate cutting-edge technologies that help shape the future of the industrial sector.
