Nokia and NL-ix announced the deployment of Nokia Deepfield Defender in the network of NL-ix, making it the largest anti DDoS solution in the Internet Switching Point (IXP) environment launched in Europe. It can better protect customers and operations by preventing DDoS attacks within seconds.
Nokia Deepfield Defender uses AI driven big data analysis in the NL-ix network to detect DDoS and directly drives mitigation measures on Nokia FP5 based routers deployed throughout the network. Nokia’s advanced high-performance DDoS security solution can quickly and accurately detect all types of DDoS and achieve network-based agile mitigation on existing Nokia routers with minimal or no impact on customer traffic. This solution ensures advanced DDoS security to stay ahead of the latest generation of threats, expand protection, and provide security enhancement services for enterprises, especially those operating in critical industry sectors.
The introduction of Deepfield Defender in the NL-ix network represents a milestone in the development of Nokia’s network scale and IXP’s security capabilities, making it a model for future replication.
NL ix CEO Jan Hoogenboom said, “This is a huge victory because it is not only the first security enhancement service product, but also the first anti DDoS solution deployed by IXP, proving our position as a key innovator in Europe. Our DDoS protection will strive to achieve zero downtime for enterprises and provide security for their entire operations. Our solution directly performs mitigation on Nokia routers, rather than using remote dedicated cleaning centers, thereby maintaining low latency and reducing transmission costs. Therefore, we can provide a ‘one-stop service’ for connectivity and security across Europe, and our customers do not need to cooperate with multiple parties or have complex arrangements to protect third parties.”
Jeff Smith, Vice President and General Manager of Nokia Deepfield, said, “Security is becoming everyone’s top concern, especially in recent months where we have seen an increasing number of shorter, more dispersed, more complex, and impactful DDoS attacks. Our solution combines Deepfield Defender’s AI/ML driven DDoS protection platform with Nokia’s advanced IP router, as well as our patented Secure Genome ®. This is a unique cloud based data feed band that can track the security environment of the Internet and view more than 5 billion IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. These features will enable NL ix to improve the protection of its European enterprise customers, while reducing costs, minimizing human errors, and increasing the overall security and automation scale of NL-ix.”
