During the 2019 Huawei Global Analyst Conference, the Next Generation Optical Transport Network Development Forum (NGOF) officially released five-star indicators for quality lines: from high availability, guaranteed bandwidth, low latency & low jitter, business agility, online self-management The dimensions redefine the metrics of the enterprise line, and define a five-level quality line based on the differentiation of the user experience, to drive the upstream and downstream industries to jointly build a quality line network, to provide higher quality private line business experience for enterprise users, and then to promote light. The prosperity of the network industry.
IDC predicts that by 2025, 85% of enterprise applications will be deployed in the cloud; Gartner predicts that by 2020, the cloud computing market will reach $143.5 billion. The growing demand for cloud services in enterprises poses a huge challenge for operators’ dedicated line bearer networks, especially in recent years, the bandwidth growth of high-value enterprise lines has even fallen far behind the growth of home broadband. The high-value users such as integrated finance, government, OTT, and large enterprises are mainly focused on the high-reliability, low-latency, large-bandwidth, bandwidth-on-demand, and rapid opening of five dimensions. Telecom operators urgently need to provide A higher quality dedicated line to support the future cloud demand of all types of large enterprises.
Based on this, the NGOF Industry Alliance has focused on the unified standard project of the quality line since its inception, and has established the “Cloud & Private Line Bearer Group”. The NGOF investigated in detail the actual business needs of many enterprises such as finance, Internet companies, and scientific research institutions, and proposed a five-dimensional quality line indicator system from the user experience side to guide the upstream and downstream industries to carry out innovations in quality lines. It includes five indicators: guaranteed bandwidth, high availability, low latency & low jitter, business agility, and online self-management.
Guaranteed bandwidth
The end-to-end hard isolated network provides a guaranteed bandwidth rate and is encrypted on demand according to different levels of requirements.
High availability
The enterprise line’s link availability rate is not less than 99%, and 99%-99.99% of different dedicated line network link availability guarantees are provided according to different level requirements.
Low latency & low jitter
The end-to-end delay, the actual route delay and the delay difference at the time of opening every 1000 km are used as the evaluation baseline, and the delay and jitter are quantified according to different levels.
Business agility
Quantitative commitments are made for the time required for enterprise users to book online to the final operator to deliver dedicated line services. The service opening time ranges from month to minute.
Online self-management
Support enterprise users to visualize the key KPI indicators of the dedicated line, and formulate differentiated line-line business strategies as needed.
NGOF quality line five-star indicator system
“NGOF cooperates with the upstream and downstream industries to conduct a thorough investigation of the needs of the final enterprise users, and at the same time, based on the user experience, proposes a five-star indicator system for quality lines. We hope that the quantitative index system will lead the industry to jointly create an experience-aware private line bearer network for end users. Providing a high-quality dedicated line business experience while enabling the prosperity of the optical network industry.”
Zhao Wenyu, Team Leader, NGOF Cloud & Special Line
“Chongqing Telecom builds a dedicated product system based on the concept of China Telecom Group’s FIRST boutique line, builds differentiated line competitiveness, and provides customized quality services to different high-value customers, effectively enhancing the customer-specific line service experience and supporting Chongqing. Telecom quickly expands the high-end government and enterprise market.”
Chief Engineer of Chongqing Telecom Transmission Access Network
As a member of the global optical network industry, Huawei continues to strengthen innovation in products and solutions to support the commercial success of operators. At present, Huawei’s three end-to-end MS-OTN, ASON2.0, and network cloud engine innovation capabilities can effectively support operators to build a five-star quality line. Facing the future, we will further strengthen the joint innovation with the upstream and downstream industries, and take the opportunity of the quality line to enable the value growth of global operators. ”
Lu Yiquan, President of Huawei’s Transport Network
At present, the quality line has been recognized by China’s three major operators and leading European operators, and has begun active innovation practice. In the future, NGOF will further play the role of industry alliance and join hands with the global optical network industry chain to promote the prosperity and development of the entire industry chain.
