NEC Corporation, a leader in the integration of IT and network technology, recently announced that Indonesia based Bank Mandiri has chosen NEC’s network transformation services to deploy Adtran’s innovative Osilloquartz time synchronization technology in its Jakarta data center, thereby enhancing the bank’s digital infrastructure. With the help of this new security timing solution, Mandiri Bank is strengthening its ability to comply with strict global banking regulations, thereby achieving effective fraud prevention and control audits and improving operational efficiency.
As one of the largest banks in Indonesia, Mandiri Bank is committed to becoming the preferred financial partner for customers, seamlessly integrating its financial products and services into their daily lives by providing simple and efficient digital banking solutions. It is crucial to enhance security to protect customers from fraud while Mandiri Bank accelerates its digital banking business with social innovation as its goal. However, using traditional Public Network Time Protocol (NTP) clock servers lacks accuracy and cannot meet the requirements of industry standards and regulations such as MiFID for effective fraud prevention and control. In addition, reliance on public NTP servers may increase the visibility of Mandiri Bank’s network, which requires increased vigilance and risk management.
To address these challenges, NEC has partnered with its global partner Adtran to deploy OSA 5412- a multifunctional NTP clock server designed specifically for precise time synchronization and supporting upgrades to the Precision Time Protocol (PTP). As a dedicated NTP server for data centers, OSA 5412 provides higher accuracy and reliability for important activities such as transaction reporting, effectively meeting the regulatory requirements of the banking industry in terms of traceability and enhancing customer security. In addition, the solution also provides advanced interference and deception detection capabilities to prevent network threats.
Mandiri Bank has adopted NEC’s network transformation services and Adtran’s Oscillogutz time synchronization technology, placing the bank at the forefront of Indonesia’s digital banking industry and setting a new benchmark for security and operational excellence. Looking ahead, NEC is committed to supporting the ever-changing needs of the banking industry and driving the development of secure digital banking services.
Denny Dwi Mavianto, the team leader of Mandiri Bank, stated, “Mandiri Bank has always been committed to driving digital innovation to enhance customer satisfaction and security. Through our collaboration with NEC and Adtran, we have achieved a transformation in time synchronization capabilities, ensuring higher transaction traceability and operational reliability. As a digital pioneer in the Indonesian banking industry, we will continue to lead development with innovation – utilizing artificial intelligence and cutting-edge digital technologies to provide customers with trustworthy and future oriented financial services.”
Stuart Broome, General Manager of Sales for Adtran Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific, stated, “Accurate and secure time synchronization is crucial for building trust in digital banking. Our OSA 5412 platform provides industry-leading accuracy, resilience, and advanced security features such as interference and fraud detection. This deployment not only meets global regulatory standards, but also solidifies the foundation for Mandiri Bank to provide secure and real-time financial services in today’s dynamic digital economy.”
Masayuki Kayahara, Senior Vice President of NEC’s Global Network Division, said, “We are honored to support Mandiri Bank in enhancing its digital infrastructure through our advanced network transformation and time synchronization solutions in collaboration with Adtran. NEC has long been committed to driving digital innovation in the banking industry through modernized critical infrastructure, and we remain steadfast in delivering new innovative results. We look forward to empowering financial institutions like Mandiri Bank to drive innovation and achieve business success in the era of artificial intelligence and digital technology.”
