MTN Benin and Ericsson cooperate to deploy AI and ML solutions in Africa to meet throughput challenges. The network management system using AI and ML aims to solve the problem of throughput decline and ultimately improve customer satisfaction. This is based on the existing Ericsson operation engine and aims to provide data driven network8 operation, including the most advanced AI cognitive software, for network optimization.

networkThe continuous increase of connecting equipment leads to the increase of spectrum demand, which brings pressure to some sites. Ericsson has designed the latest algorithm to predict the future low throughput with high accuracy based on historical data. Therefore, MTN Benin can maximize the use of available spectrum, thereby improving the user experience by providing users of MTN Benin with a reliable and first-class network experience.
Uche OFODILE, CEO of MTN Benin, said: “With our joint efforts with Ericsson, throughput degradation is one of the most common problems in network management and has been successfully solved. The most critical aspect we are looking for is speed to serve the increased use of connected devices and the corresponding increase in network traffic. Ericsson, through its active AI and ML solutions, has provided us with the best available solutions, identifying problems before they occur. By using Ericsson’s solutions to design creative network solutions, we hope to provide a more personalized approach to network management, thereby improving customer satisfaction, and successfully contributing to the government’s ambition to become a leading digital service provider in West Africa. ”
Hossam Kandeel, Vice President of Ericsson Middle East and Africa and Head of MTN Africa, Global Customer Department, MTN Customer Department, said: “I am pleased to support the acceleration of MTN Benin’s automated journey, which has had a significant positive impact on the end user experience, network performance and operational efficiency. We are able to provide highly accurate predictions of future limited throughput – predict throughput challenges, and provide zero contact corrective actions. This cooperation is in line with our goal to transform network operation and optimization into an active data-driven approach – based on Ericsson’s AI based cognitive software and operation engine. ”
The benefits of AI and ML solutions are manifold, because they can solve the problem of throughput degradation in the most effective way by predicting throughput degradation, providing zero contact corrective actions, increasing the throughput of service level agreements, and making the best use of network resources.
