The 2024 OCP Global Summit – Leader in Data Infrastructure Semiconductor Solutions, Marvel Technology, Inc., announced today that it has partnered with Meta to develop FBNIC, a customized 5nm network interface controller (NIC) ASIC designed to meet the company’s infrastructure and use case needs. Marvel also contributed the design of FBNIC boards to the Open Compute Project (OCP) community.
FBNIC combines a custom network controller jointly designed by Marvel and Meta, a jointly designed motherboard, and Meta’s ASIC, firmware, and software. This customized design provides innovative features, optimizes performance, improves efficiency, and reduces the average time required to solve potential network and server issues.Marvell Technology, 的图像结果
“The future of large-scale data center computing will increasingly revolve around optimizing semiconductors and other components for specific applications and cloud infrastructure architectures,” said Raghib Hussain, President of Product and Technology at Marvel. “We are pleased to collaborate with Meta to develop their custom FBNIC on our industry-leading 5nm accelerated infrastructure chip platform. We look forward to the OCP community using this board level design to drive future innovation.”
Key features of FBNIC
-Supports Ethernet network interfaces of 4x100GE, 2x100GE, 4x50GE, 2x50GE, 4x25GE, and 2x25GE, with SerDes supporting up to 56G PAM4 per channel.
-The multi host PCIe interface supports four independent Gen5 x4 ports.
-Complete firmware control allows access to all hardware internals, enabling innovative customization features and reducing the average time to resolve potential issues.
-Compliant with the OCP NIC 3.0 version 1.2.0 design specifications and will be released to the OCP community.
