Zhang Minggang, Deputy General Manager of Huawei France, stated that Huawei’s first overseas factory will be completed in France and is expected to start production by the end of 2025.
He stated that the construction work is progressing in an orderly manner, with the goal of producing 1 billion units of equipment annually, providing 500 job positions, and planning to produce and supply the entire European market in France. The estimated total investment amount is 200 million euros (currently approximately 1.544 billion yuan).
In fact, Huawei announced in 2020 that it would build a new manufacturing factory in the eastern region of Brumat to produce mobile communication network technology products and provide technical solutions for European customers. It started construction in 2021 and was originally planned to start production early this year.
The bulletin shows that the factory is located in a commercial park in Brumat, Lower Rhine Province, covering an area of about 8 hectares. The project is planned to invest about 200 million euros, with an expected annual output value of 1 billion euros (currently about 7.72 billion yuan). Initially, it will create 300 direct employment opportunities, and in the long term, it will create 500 employment opportunities.
It is reported that the products produced by the new factory will mainly be supplied to the European region, achieving overall coverage of end-to-end industrial chains such as research and development, sales, procurement, production, logistics, services, and talent cultivation, and driving the local upstream and downstream industrial chains in Europe.
A Huawei spokesperson stated that the factory will manufacture components, including chipsets and motherboards, for 4G and 5G base stations. The products of this factory will be supplied to European customers. “By establishing factories at crossroads in Europe, Huawei will enrich its business on the European continent through 23 research and development centers, over 100 partner universities, over 3100 suppliers, and an effective supply chain.”
Xinhua News Agency previously pointed out that Huawei announced as early as 2019 that it would establish its first European factory in France. After all, Europe was Huawei’s largest overseas market and was regarded by Ren Zhengfei as Huawei’s second hometown.
According to data, Huawei entered the French market in 2003 and has currently established six research centers and one global design center in Paris. Huawei claims to have achieved sales of 2.5 billion euros in France by 2021, created nearly 10000 jobs, and held a 20% share of the French telecommunications infrastructure market.
