Guo Ping, Huawei’s rotating chairman noted on 2020 Win-win Future Global Online Summit, “Though facing with a slew of difficulties, Huawei will discharge the obligations to customers and distributors and remain survive and develop. We created a 454-billion-yuan sales revenue in the first half year, which increased by about 13 percent on year-on-year basis. Such an achievement in such a complex overall environment is more than hard-won.” He also stated that the amount of global 5G users had surpassed 90 million and that of 5G stations had exceeded 0.7 million by this July, which was expected to exceed 1.5 million.
“The arrangement of global 5G has come to an end now, and the next key step is to develop the industrial applications and release 5G dividend.” Guo Ping said that there were 81 operators that deployed commercial 5G network covering many nations and regions who account for about 72 percent of the GDP in the world, including some major economies in Europe and Asia-Pacific area.
Ding Geng, executive director and chairman of operator BG making a further analysis of present operation market, said that the development of 5G had entered a new phase and the key to achieve business success was the development of 5G ToB business.
“So far, special lines have become the typical cases of the success of 5G ToB, which have been commercialized by 15 operators all over the world. Besides, it’s suggested that industries like coal mines, steel, ports and oil field should be set as targeted industries at present phase of 5G ToB development.” Ding Geng noted.
But industrial standards unification remains a matter.
Chen Zhaoxiong, vise minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated before that the challenge of 5G kept that the informatization infrastructure of various vertical industries varied with problems like interconnecting standards, which objectively formed certain barriers to integration. Additionally, scaled network infrastructure was the foundation and premise of prompting the popularization of 5G application. So 5G network infrastructure should be speeded up to construct, independent network industrial ecology to improve, the network arrangement of vertical industries to apply and the coverage of major industries’ 5G to realize.
From the perspective of Huawei, industrial unified standards remains the basis of scaled development of 5G ToB business. From the aspect of the progress of standards, power sector has completed partial connection with communications industry. And industries like coal mines and steel make great progress, cooperating with each other and establishing some ecological alliances. What’s more, Chinese operators have built industrial alliances to extend 5G intellectual coal mines.
Ding Geng said, “ToB business is the key point that operators obtain improvement. For instance, there are almost 50 5G commercial industrial products to support the scaled application of 5G. 5G ToB is on its way.”
