According to media reports, Huawei recently published an internal document to adjust its cloud business again, appointing Zhang Pingan as the president of Cloud BU, and at the same time revoking Cloud & AI BG, and the original server, storage, etc. are classified as “network products and solutions.” The name of the department was changed to ICT product solutions.

As for the reasons for the adjustment, Huawei officials have not commented so far, nor have they described Yu Chengdong’s position further.

In recent years, Huawei has made many rounds of adjustments to its cloud business. In January of this year, Cloud&AI rose to Huawei’s fourth largest BG, parallel to carrier BG, enterprise BG, and consumer BG, mainly including Cloud BU, computing product lines (servers, etc.), storage and machine vision product lines.

Previously, Huawei’s rotating chairman Hu Houkun revealed the latest situation of Huawei’s cloud business at the 2020 annual report conference. He said that in 2020, Huawei’s cloud business revenue increased by 168% year-on-year. “WeLink has launched more than 220 cloud services and more than 210 solutions. It has obtained more than 80 authoritative security certifications worldwide, developed 19,000+ partners, gathered 1.6 million developers, and launched 4,000+ applications in the cloud market.”

According to the data, Zhang Pingan is the main person in charge of Huawei’s consumer cloud business. He was born in 1972, graduated from Zhejiang University, and joined Huawei in 1996. Zhang Pingan has served as President of Huawei Product Line, Senior Vice President, Vice President of Strategy and Marketing, Vice President of Regional Department, Vice President of Global Technical Services Department, CEO of Huawei Symantec, etc.
