The expansion of Comcast network enables fast and cost-effective deployment of fiber optic services, which seamlessly coexist with coaxial cable based services on the same virtualized broadband platform. This supports the promotion of cost-effective fiber optic networks for rural communities, including through BEAD funded projects. Harmonic’s cOS platform provides Comcast with a converged solution for multi gigabit services, simplifying operations, reducing costs, and supporting strategic deployment of node based remote switches and optical line terminals (OLTs) that connect customers to Comcast’s network. These innovations are supported by the Harmonic Virtual Broadband Network Gateway (vBNG) and the Jetty remote switch with Fin remote OLT integrated into the Harmonic Ripple DAA node.
