GSA released the latest 5G market data. By the end of August 2022, 501 operators from 153 countries and regions around the world are investing in 5G. The ways of investment include testing, licensing, planning, network deployment and commercial use. This figure does not include nearly 200 companies that have obtained priority access licenses when auctioning CBRS spectrum (which may be used for 5G) in the United States. Content included:

224 operators in 89 countries and regions have launched one or more 5G services that meet the 3GPP standard.

222 operators in 89 countries and regions have launched 5G mobile services.

95 operators in 46 countries and regions have launched fixed wireless access (FWA) services that meet the 3GPP standard (42% of the total number of operators offering 5G services).

The seven operators that announced the soft start of 5G networks are not included in the above figures.

111 operators are investing in 5G independent networks, including in the form of evaluation/testing, pilot, planning and deployment, and commercial use. Among them, 35 operators have deployed or launched 5G independent networks in public networks.

The number of 5G devices launched reached 1521, up 43% from 1060 a year ago.

The number of 5G mobile phones launched has reached 827, an increase of 197% compared with 278 at the end of 2020.

At least 1175 5G devices have been commercially available, an increase of more than 66% compared with 704 models a year ago.
