Recently, according to foreign media reports, Google is planning to split an AI R&D team with dozens of people into a newly established machine learning team. The goal of the team is to find development opportunities in the AI field.

It’s also disclosed that the new team in an internal memo sent to employees by Google. The new team is led by Nadav Aron, vice president of engineering for the AI department. During the development process, machine learning researchers from multiple teams will work together to form a new team.  The new team will be incorporated into Google’s core division, which will develop the technical infrastructure for Google’s flagship products. Google’s goal is to achieve considerable results in the AI field in the next 2-3 years.

In response, a Google spokesperson said: “Machine learning has become highly mature. It has become the core of our technology and products. Many people use these technologies and products every day, so we expand the infrastructure for machine learning. At the same time, the Google Research team is also expanding, and we want to harvest more innovations in AI and related fields.”
