According to media reports, Google announced today that its data center and cloud infrastructure expansion project in Singapore has been completed, which means the company’s total investment in technology infrastructure in Singapore has reached $5 billion.
Google has stated that it employs over 500 employees in its data center in Singapore, responsible for Google search and map services. Last week, Google announced that it would invest $2 billion in Malaysia to develop its first data center in the country.
Currently, Google has established and operated data centers in 11 countries and regions, providing services to users worldwide.
According to previous media reports, Google recently announced an investment of $2 billion in Malaysia, including the construction of its first data center, a new Google cloud region, and further development of artificial intelligence.
In addition, Amazon AWS also announced earlier this month that it will invest an additional SGD 12 billion (currently approximately RMB 64 billion) in Singapore in 2028 to further expand AWS’s cloud computing infrastructure located there. At present, the Southeast Asian region is becoming a key area of increasing concern for cloud computing giants.
