Ericsson announced the launch of two high-performance antennas tailored for critical mission applications. At the Critical Communications World (CCW) event held in Brussels, Belgium, antennas 1005 and 1006 were designed to meet the specific needs of Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) networks, providing secure and reliable coverage in the most needed areas.

These antennas are designed to meet the needs of emergency services and first responders, supporting continuous operation, high availability, and long-term network reliability. Both models have been optimized for the public safety frequency bands B68 and B28, with 2T2R low-frequency support, high electrical efficiency, and best in class low-frequency coverage. These characteristics make antennas very suitable for deployment in suburban and rural areas, where coverage and signal penetration and arrival are crucial for maintaining reliable communication on diverse and vast terrains.

Mikael Eriksson, head of Ericsson antenna systems, said, “At Ericsson antenna systems, the antennas we design and deliver meet the highest requirements for critical mission communication. With our proven reliability, dedicated research and development, and long-term focus on high-performance networks, these new antennas are specifically designed to provide the security, performance, and operational efficiency that public safety networks rely on, while supporting faster deployment and lower total cost of ownership.”

The new antenna has a powerful design and advanced electrical performance, providing wider coverage and reliability in harsh environments. They are designed specifically for sustainability and safety, enabling efficient deployment. They use remote electric tilt (RET) and antenna monitoring unit (AMU) for secure and real-time network optimization.

The appearance of antenna 1005 is 2.1 meters, and due to its compact size, it is easy to deploy on site, making it an ideal choice for suburban areas. Antenna 1006 provides a larger coverage area for rural areas, with high performance and durability.

These antennas are part of Ericsson’s broader showcase at CCW, highlighting the company’s vision for the next generation of mission critical networks. With the increasing demand for digitalization in public safety, defense, railways, utilities, and digital airspace operations, Ericsson’s products and solutions enable governments and key industries to modernize traditional systems and improve operational efficiency.
