Ericsson signed a cooperation agreement with e&Egypt at GITEX Global 2024 to launch 5G nationwide in Egypt.
Ericsson will provide its latest energy-efficient 5G product portfolio to build networks, offering fast and reliable 5G connectivity advantages. This product portfolio aims to manage all site types and traffic scenarios to provide high performance, even if the network spans across mobile generations in terms of technology and capacity. Ericsson’s latest 5G Radio Access Network (5G RAN) product portfolio will be deployed alongside Ericsson’s radio system products and solutions.
5G will benefit Egyptian consumers and businesses with faster speeds, lower latency, and stronger network resilience, which will help drive social development, transform industries, and enhance daily experiences.
Amr Fathy, Chief Technology and Information Officer of e&Egypt, said, “We are delighted to bring 5G to Egypt with our technology partner Ericsson. Through this collaboration, e&Egypt will be able to provide our customers with faster connection speeds, greater bandwidth, and a latency free user experience, unlocking many opportunities for consumers and businesses. With Ericsson’s cutting-edge 5G solutions, we are paving the way for a more connected and innovative future for Egypt.”
Ekow Nelson, Vice President and Global Customer Division Head of e&E in Ericsson’s Middle East and Africa region, said, “Our legendary partnership with e&Egypt dates back nearly 20 years, experiencing two generations of mobile technology transformation. Like previous technological changes, our ambition for 5G is to expand e&Egypt’s technological leadership. We are proud of the confidence and trust that e&Egypt has shown us, and look forward to the next development in the communications industry, which is expected to change the way consumers and businesses experience the digital world.”
