Recently, the domestic backbone submarine cable system DSCoM in Maldives, jointly invested by Maldives telecommunications operators Dhiragagu and Ooredoo and constructed by Huahai Communication, has successfully landed. The system consists of five sections, connecting eight major cities in Maldives, including Hulhumale, Maafushi, Maamigili, and Kudahuvadhoo, covering multiple core areas.
As an important communication backbone network in the Maldives, the system will significantly improve the local high-speed and stable network coverage after being put into commercial use, building new competitiveness and lasting momentum for the development of the digital economy in South Asia.
Maldives is a coral island archipelago country, with the seabed mostly composed of coral reefs and very steep terrain. The water depth rapidly increases from 0 meters to 1000 meters within a range of 2 kilometers, and the seabed slope is generally 20-40 degrees, with a maximum of 70 degrees.
Huahai Communication provides end-to-end customized solutions for the complex underwater environment of Maldives islands and reefs, using armored cable types with good mechanical protection. The mature dome type inner armor structure design enables submarine cables to have better water pressure resistance and tensile resistance. The DSCoM, the backbone submarine cable system in Maldives, is expected to complete the commercial connection of its entire business line in the first quarter of 2024.
