On May 13, China Telecom and a number of industry partners launched the “5G Module Cooperation Action” in Beijing to accelerate the development of the 5G, NB-IoT and LTECat1 Internet of Things industry, and promote the growth of the Internet of Things industry. In 2021, China Telecom plans to add 100 million IoT connections and collect 30 million IoT modules.

China Telecom’s Internet of Things connection service scale has exceeded 260 million; NB-IoT network continues to lead the world, with a connection scale of more than 100 million; 5G SA network takes the lead in large-scale commercial use, creating new applications for cloud network integration; launching Zhiyuan, Neighbor, Ruyi the three-type 5G customized network, which  provides 5G industry-leading comprehensive solutions. IoT modules are the key to realizing the “Internet of Everything” in the 5G era. China Telecom has joined hands with module partners to accelerate the development of 5G IoT to commercial scale.

The focus of this multi-party cooperation: First, to promote IoT services and solutions covering all scenarios of high, medium, and low speeds, and promote the upgrading of intelligent social governance, industrial digitization, and intelligent life; second, to take multiple measures to lead the industry chain which continues to improve the cost performance of 5G, NB-IoT and LTE-Cat1 modules, and accelerate the popularization of the Internet of Things; the third is to establish a 5G module innovation and open laboratory, and invite all parties in the industry chain to develop high-definition video, security monitoring, industrial Internet, car networking, 5G research and development in typical scenarios such as robots/unmanned vehicles; the fourth is to provide resources and service guarantees, provide exclusive data packages, exclusive financial services and business opportunities for IoT modules.
