Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Communications of India, said during the recent Global Business Summit (GBS) of the Economic Times in 2023 that at least nine countries have shown interest in the 4G and 5G technology stack developed by India, which makes India a potential exporter of telecommunications technology.
At the summit, Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that the stack of indigenous development in India is ready and will be deployed soon. He also said that the stack initially tested 1 million concurrent calls, then 5 million concurrent calls, and recently 10 million concurrent calls.

“At least 9-10 countries want to try them, and these stacks will be launched soon. I am very happy to share with you the Prime Minister’s vision of making India an exporter of telecommunications technology.” Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
With regard to the deployment of 5G technology, the Minister said that India began to launch 5G technology commercially in October 2022. At present, more than 200 cities across the country have covered 5G networks.
At present, Indian telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jie Infocomm are rapidly deploying 5G infrastructure nationwide.
Bharti Airtel aims to provide 5G services in 300 cities across the country by March 2024, compared with 70 at present. Bharti Airtel is currently using Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung devices to provide 5G services. Its competitor, Reliance Jie Infocomm, said that it had provided 5G services in 225 cities in India. Last year, Reliance Jie Infocomm announced the signing of 5G contracts with Ericsson and Nokia.
It is reported that the Ministry of Telecommunications of India is currently working to release more spectrum to support 5G services. According to the news, the Indian government may auction these new 5G spectrum in the next fiscal year starting on April 1. According to relevant reports, the Indian government intends to allocate additional medium-band spectrum (1GHz to 6GHz) and spectrum above 6GHz, especially between 37GHz and 42GHz.
