On May 14, semiconductor manufacturing equipment manufacturer ASML and Wuxi High-tech Zone held the “ASML Lithography Equipment Technical Service (Wuxi) Base Signing Ceremony” and agreed to upgrade the base in Wuxi High-tech Zone.
It is reported that the upgraded ASML lithography equipment technical service (Wuxi) base covers two major business segments:
- A technical center with an area of more than 2,000 square meters and a professional team of nearly 200 people is engaged in technical services such as maintenance and upgrade of lithography equipment;
- A supply chain service center with an area of more than 2,000 square meters provides customers with efficient supply chain services and provides a higher level of logistics support for materials required for equipment installation, upgrades, and production operations.
Online news from Wuxi High-tech Zone shows that the two parties will work together to upgrade and build a technical service base, which will better realize the headquarters and high-end development of the integrated circuit industry, and further promote the strong chain, supplementary chain and extended chain of the integrated circuit industry in Wuxi.
“Wuxi is our blessed land.” At the signing ceremony, Shen Bo, global vice president and president of China of Asme Company, introduced that ASML had started business in Wuxi as early as 2006 and gathered a group of high-quality customers here.
Shen Bo said that Wuxi is the “Huangshi Military Academy” of China’s integrated circuit industry. ASML’s service logistics center in Wuxi is currently in leading position in scale and area.
In addition, the Deputy Mayor of Wuxi, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the High-tech Zone, and Secretary of the Xinwu District Jiang Min also said that in recent years, the High-tech Zone has concentrated on the development of the integrated circuit-based information industry, and has issued a “Policy Opinions”, established a mother fund to support and guide the development of the industry, introduced a number of major industrial projects such as H-Grace Base and SK Hynix II Factory. And with these projects completed and put into production, it is expected that in the next two years, Wuxi High-tech will become the first high-tech zone in the country where the output value of the integrated circuit industry has exceeded 100 billion yuan.
According to China News Service, Wuxi was identified as the “National Southern Microelectronics Industrial Base” in 1983. The integrated circuit industry has always been at the forefront of the country. In 2019, the city’s integrated circuit industry output value reached 117.8 billion yuan, an increase of 8.3% ranked first in Jiangsu and second in the country.
As the main position for the development of Wuxi’s integrated circuit industry, the output value of the integrated circuit industry in Wuxi High-tech Zone reached 86 billion yuan in 2019, accounting for three quarters of the city’s total, forming a complete integrated circuit from design, manufacturing to packaging and testing the industrial chain, complete industrial facilities and a competitive industrial development environment.
Jiang Min said that the upgrade of the lithography equipment technology service base by ASML this time will help to further promote the strong chain, supplementary chain and extended chain of the integrated circuit industry in the region, and enhance the force of the industry.
