On November 12, 2025, the artificial intelligence sector received significant news about infrastructure investment. Renowned AI company Anthropic announced on Wednesday that it had reached an ambitious data center collaboration agreement with Fluidstack, a rising UK-based cloud service provider. The plan involves a total investment of up to $50 billion to build specialized data center facilities across multiple locations in the United States, tailored to meet its computational needs.

Customized Computing Infrastructure

According to the announcement, these data centers will be located in Texas and New York, with phased operations expected to commence by 2026. Anthropic specifically emphasized that these facilities are “tailored for Anthropic, with a focus on maximizing the efficiency of our workloads.”

Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei stated in the announcement: “We are steadily approaching artificial intelligence capable of accelerating scientific discoveries and addressing complex problems in ways never before possible. Realizing this potential requires infrastructure that can support sustained advancements in cutting-edge fields.”

Despite having established significant cloud partnerships with Google and Amazon (also its investors) to meet the immense computational demands of its Claude model series, this collaboration marks Anthropic’s first large-scale investment in building customized infrastructure. While the $50 billion investment is substantial, it aligns with the company’s internal revenue projections. Reports indicate Anthropic anticipates reaching $70 billion in revenue and $17 billion in positive cash flow by 2028.

Strategic layout under the wave of industry investment

Although $50 billion represents a significant investment in funds and computing power, it still pales in comparison to competitors’ projects. Meta has committed to building data centers worth $600 billion over the next three years, while the “Stargate” partnership between SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle has planned $500 billion in infrastructure spending. These huge expenditures have caused people to worry about the AI foam, which may lead to weak demand or even capital mismatch.

This project marks a significant success for Fluidstack. This relatively young emerging cloud company has become a popular supplier in the AI construction boom. The company was founded in 2017 and was designated as the main partner for a 1 gigawatt AI project supported by the French government in February of this year, which involves expenditures exceeding $11 billion. According to Forbes, the company has established partnerships with Meta, Black Forest Labs, and Mistral in France.

It is worth noting that Fluidstack is also one of the first third-party suppliers to receive customized TPU from Google, which is an important vote of confidence for the company. As the AI competition continues to heat up, infrastructure construction has become a key battlefield for major technology companies, and Anthropic’s investment will further intensify the competitive situation in this field.
