Ericsson’s millionth radio is a cutting-edge 5G large-scale MIMO radio called the Antenna Integrated Radio (AIR) solution, specifically AIR 3278. Compared to previous generations, it consumes less energy, has a smaller and lighter design, while also providing greater bandwidth and higher capacity. AIR 3278 has an impressive large-scale MIMO configuration, integrating 32 transmit and 32 receive antennas into a single radio unit. Ericsson will continue to strive to further reduce the size and energy consumption of its 5G wireless products, while developing new technologies for energy-saving installation.

The Flex factory in Tczew, Poland is one of the main European factories for Ericsson 5G radio production. It produces the majority of the volume entering the Telia network. This factory is a strategic component of Ericsson’s global supply chain, and the company works closely with customers through its European business. With Ericsson’s devices, Telia can provide users with the best 5G network experience.

Ericsson and Telia will continue to jointly promote innovation in the 5G field. Earlier this year, the two companies teamed up to launch a new 5G innovation project called “Polaris” for industrial enterprises. The ‘North Star’ program aims to accelerate the adoption and transformation of the 5G industry by developing and implementing new digital solutions. As part of the 5G collaboration, Telia and Ericsson also opened a dedicated 5G network in Tallinn in early May 2023.
