The “Inner Mongolia Team” who has fought in Jingmen, Hubei has been fighting for more than 40 days. As the battle progresses, more and more patients with new coronary pneumonia are gradually cured. But at the same time, some of the more difficult cases are waiting for guidance from the support team and experts from various places. Recently, a 5G remote consultation has connected Hohhot, Inner Mongolia and Jingshan, Jingmen, Hubei.

“According to the development of patients’ lung inflammation, we should carefully reduce the dosage of hormones, continue to observe changes in CT images, and cooperate with Chinese medicine conditioning. In order to diagnose cases as soon as possible, it is recommended to perform nucleic acids not only on respiratory specimens such as sputum and nasopharyngeal swabs.  In the remote consultation room, Sun Dejun, leader of the medical treatment expert team of New Crown Pneumonia in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and secretary of the Party Committee of the People’s Hospital of the Autonomous Region, explained to the medical staff on the screen.

After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia in Hubei, Jingshan, only 150 kilometers away from the provincial capital of Wuhan, became one of the epidemic concentrated areas. Among the confirmed cases of new crown pneumonia infection in Jingshan City, there are more severe and critically ill patients, and the situation of treatment is more severe. According to the needs of the epidemic, the first 139 members of the Inner Mongolia medical team to Hubei were divided into 6 groups and went to the 6 epidemic areas around Jingmen City. The 16 members sent by the People’s Hospital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region were divided into two teams to support Jingshan City. With Zhongxiang City, 10 members of the team carried out rescue work in Jingshan City.

This remote 5G consultation is based on this counterpart support. The two groups of experts crossed the physical space constraints and relied on the mobile remote consultation system donated by the Inner Mongolia People’s Government for the Hubei epidemic area.

This consultation is two cases of elderly patients with suspected new coronary pneumonia infection, one of which tends to improve, and the other continues to worsen. At the consultation site, Jingshan People’s Hospital uploaded the case data of the patient through the platform, introduced the patient’s condition and treatment plan, and hoped to receive consultation guidance if the condition did not improve for many days.

The consultation lasted for nearly an hour and a half. The Inner Mongolia expert group analyzed and discussed the patient’s condition, fully affirmed the measures taken in the early treatment of the hospital ahead, and answered questions such as fever and exacerbation of the infection, and needed a comprehensive test and system.

“Although we have accumulated some experience in the treatment of patients, we still have insufficient experience in the treatment of comorbidities and complications, especially in the treatment of complex cases. Through this remote consultation, we discovered lots of problems during the first-line treatment. Communicating the problems with Inner Mongolia experts will help improve the technical level and capabilities of the first-line medical team, and provide valuable experience for our follow-up treatment. It will better develop treatment plans for patients and improve the cure rate.” Guo Ke, Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the People’s Hospital of Jingshan City, believes that the remote consultation is of great significance. Sun Dejun said that the number of confirmed cases in Inner Mongolia is gradually decreasing. In the next work, the Inner Mongolia Expert Group will strengthen remote consultation with Inner Mongolia’s counterpart cities in Hubei to provide remote medical guidance and support for the treatment of local patients with new coronary pneumonia, especially severe and critically ill patients, which actively explores treatment experience to ensure that patients get the best treatment results.
