Marvell Technology, Inc., a leader in semiconductor solutions for data infrastructure, and Lumentum Holdings Inc., a leading design and manufacturer in the optical and photonics product markets, announced today that they will jointly demonstrate Marvell ® Interoperability between optical connectivity solutions and Lumentum’s Optical Path Switching (OCS) platform. This integrated rack level system will be showcased at the Marvel booth (# 1600) at OFC 2026, which will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from March 17th to 19th.
As artificial intelligence workloads continue to drive unprecedented growth in data center traffic, network architecture is rapidly evolving to provide higher bandwidth, lower latency, and higher energy efficiency. Optical path switching can establish direct optical paths between endpoints to support scalable, high signal integrity, real-time data movement, and ultra-low latency connections in large AI networks, while reducing power consumption and eliminating intermediate packet processing and electro-optical conversion.
This demonstration will showcase Marvell’s optical connectivity solutions, including Aquila 1.6T Copper lite DSP, Ara 1.6T PAM4 optical DSP, COLOR Z ® 800 ZR/Zr+DCI modules, these products will be interoperable with Lumentum R300 OCS platform. The combination of advanced Marvell optical DSP and R300 scalable, low loss switching architecture enables dynamic, high bandwidth optical paths, thereby reducing latency, reducing power consumption, and improving overall network efficiency. The system will also integrate Marvell RELIANT ™, This is an advanced end-to-end telemetry, analytics, and intelligence platform designed to provide real-time visibility, predictive insights, and automated optimization for the entire Marvell connectivity product portfolio.
Xi Wang, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Connectivity Business Unit at Marvell, stated, “Artificial intelligence is redefining every layer of the data center stack, and connectivity is at the core of this transformation. By demonstrating the interoperability between Marvell’s optical connectivity solutions and Lumentum OCS platform, we demonstrate how future artificial intelligence networks can achieve breakthrough progress in performance, energy efficiency, and architectural flexibility.”
Peter Roorda, General Manager of Lumentum Switching Business, said, “The expansion of artificial intelligence is pushing traditional packet based networks to their practical limits. The R300 OCS provides a large number of ports, software controlled optical connections that reduce power consumption overhead associated with traditional switching layers while achieving predictable low latency paths. Our demonstration with Marvell demonstrated how to combine optical path switching with advanced DSP technology to build a scalable, high-performance artificial intelligence network architecture.”
