During the 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, China Mobile Vice President Gao Tongqing and ZTE Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer Wang Xiyu and other guests unveiled the world’s first computing router at the China Mobile booth. This product introduces computational factors into routing systems to achieve joint routing between computing networks, improve the overall performance and processing capacity of computing systems, reduce end-to-end latency of business, and can be applied to latency and computation sensitive new businesses as well as large-scale AI inference and other businesses.
Data, algorithms, and computing power have become new economic elements in the digital economy era. The new information infrastructure based on computer network integration provides the whole society with Internet common services, which is conducive to accelerating business innovation, reducing business deployment costs, improving resource utilization, and promoting the development of the digital economy of the whole society. Currently, the network architecture of cloud, edge, end, and network ecosystems is relatively independent, and the scheduling of cloud resources such as computing and storage is in a state of isolation from the scheduling of network resources. Multidimensional computing network resource planning does not match in time and space, resulting in the inability to achieve efficient resource utilization.
To address the aforementioned issues, China Mobile has actively collaborated with manufacturers such as ZTE to conduct research on computing power networks, and has launched computing power routers based on the latest requirements for network integration routing. This product supports routing addressing based on computing power service identification, ultra-low latency business on-demand discovery, and hierarchical routing functions. For sensitive computing services, computing power routing significantly improves the business experience. Under the real-time intelligent balancing mechanism of computing power routing, the comprehensive utilization rate of multi edge computing resources has increased by more than 30%.
Since 2021, ZTE has been cooperating with China Mobile for three consecutive years to develop and test the power router system. In terms of key functions and performance, typical application scenarios, and other aspects of the centralized power router scheme, the expected testing goals have been successfully achieved. In the future, ZTE will continue to innovate in the direction of computing power routing, work together with China Mobile to promote the upgrading of new digital infrastructure for computing network integration, empower more new businesses and applications, and jointly create a new ecosystem for the digital industry.
