After the successful upgrade of Indigo’s submarine cable, SUBCO once again uses Ciena technology to provide elastic and reliable submarine transmission paths between Australia and Europe through the Oman Australian Cable (OAC). Utilizing Ciena GeoMesh Extreme, supported by Wavogic 5 Extreme on the 6500 packet optical platform, OAC has now increased its capacity to a maximum of 48Tb/s, helping to support growing bandwidth demands.

OAC was put into commercial service in November 2022 and is a 9800 kilometer submarine optical cable that connects Muscat in Oman to Perth in Australia. It also has a backup path from Sarale in Oman to Europe and Africa, and will be completed in 2024.
