Ericsson, China Mobile and Tencent Cloud have cooperated to reduce network latency and improve the reliability requirements of time critical applications and services. As 5G time critical communication realizes remote control, three partners can predict and preempt sudden delay delay to improve data transmission in 5G network.
The joint solution was recognized as one of the world’s leading scientific and technological achievements at the prestigious 2022 World Internet Conference (WIC) in China, and won the world’s leading Internet scientific and technological achievement award. This award was recognized at the World Mobile Congress (MWC) in 2022. Ericsson’s time critical communications won the GTI Award in 2022 for “breakthrough in mobile technology innovation”, and won an outstanding award for its significant contributions to the industry.
David Hammarwall, Director of Ericsson’s Product Regional Network, said: “It is encouraging to see that our highly time demanding communication solutions are triggering a new wave of Internet application development and innovation. We accept this recognition from WIC with pride and humility, and look forward to further strengthening cooperation with partners such as China Mobile and Tencent Cloud. Through 5G time critical communication, we can provide consistent low latency and high reliability required for 5G use cases, such as industrial control Control and remotely control mobility automation and real-time media, including games and AR/VR applications. ”
The time critical communication software toolkit combines the Ultra Reliable Low Delay Communication standard in 3GPP with Ericsson’s innovation to provide collaboration between networks and applications. This enables high reliability and consistent low latency, as well as large-scale connectivity – wide and local coverage in any 5G band.
Ericsson has opened part of the source code for this technology to help build an innovative ecosystem. Many mainstream Internet protocols have completed the adaptation of this technology. This technology has broad prospects in various fields and can support different use cases on private and public 5G networks of any frequency band.
Huang Yuhong, president of China Mobile Research Institute, said: “Time pressed communication is one of the most important applications of 5G and will play a crucial role in consumer services and enterprise services. Enabling remote control of 5G time limited communication is not only a successful practice, but also a key step to promote the ecology of the time limited communication industry.”
Wang Jun, vice manager of Tencent Cloud Communications, said: “Tencent’s remote reality operating system provides low latency remote control capability under the conditions of automatic driving assistance, as well as in high-risk scenarios such as mines and ports. In the case of connection interruption that may endanger lives, it is essential to eliminate all delays.”
