On November 3, it was reported that under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group, Nokia Bell successfully completed the millimeter wave FR2 only networking function test of the 5G enhancement technology research and development test recently, and achieved a peak rate of 6.8 Gbps for downlink and 2.1 Gbps for uplink.

It is reported that in this test, Nokia Bell used commercial millimeter wave base station products, supported the maximum 800MHz bandwidth, and used millimeter wave CPE terminals equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G modems to verify downlink 4x200MHz carrier aggregation, uplink 2x200MHz carrier aggregation, frame structures with different uplink and downlink ratios (DDDSU and DSUUU), adaptive modulation and coding (downlink 256QAM), CSI measurement and feedback The key technologies such as multi antenna technology, beam management, FR2 only networking function and RRC layer protocol basic functions have achieved the expected results, fully proving the technical leadership of Nokia Bell’s millimeter wave base station equipment in functions, performance, product form and other aspects.

Since 2019, Nokia Bell has been actively participating in the millimeter wave test of IMT-2020 (5G) propulsion group, and has verified the key technologies in different networking modes (NSA, NR-DC, FR2 only).

Under the guidance of IMT-2020 (5G) promotion team, Nokia Bell will continue to carry out the field test of FR2 only networking to prepare for the commercial use and promotion of millimeter wave in China.
