Huawei announced its plan to open its first European cloud center. The supplier will invest 150 million euros in the Republic of Ireland and create 200 jobs in a series of business functions by 2027.

The center was announced at the Huawei Connect event in Paris – it will provide various cloud services for the supplier’s customers in Europe, while supporting Irish enterprises to expand into the global market.

Huawei pointed out in a statement that the facility is very suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises. Through the Irish Investment Development Agency (IDA Ireland), this move has been supported by the Irish government.

Tony Yang, CEO of Huawei Ireland, described the center as “an important strategic position for Huawei Cloud’s global deployment”.

Tim Tao, president of Huawei’s cloud business in Western Europe, added that the department “is committed to making cloud everywhere, making intelligence omnipotent, and building a cloud base for the intelligent world in the region”.

Cloud Center is Huawei’s latest investment in Europe. Although its network business has been affected in several European countries in recent years, its investment continues.

In February 2021, Huawei detailed its plan to invest 80 million euros in research and development in Ireland from then on until the end of this year.
