It’s reports that Chinese technology company Huawei delivered the country’s first national data center to the Malawi government in Blantyre, Malawi’s second largest city, on the 21st. In the future, this data center will be operated by the Malawi side.

At the delivery ceremony, Malawi President Chakweera received the National Data Center on behalf of the Malawi side. He said the National Data Centre is a key component of Malawi’s “Digital Future” plan under construction, helping to reduce government administrative costs and better manage and protect data. “The completion of the National Data Centre will help Malawi take its place in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

Malawi’s Minister of Information and Digitalization Kazako said that the National Data Center will provide a reliable physical and virtual information technology environment to help Malawi meet new market and customer needs. Based on the National Data Centre, Malawi will build a secure ICT ecosystem. He thanked Huawei for bringing advanced technology to Malawi and delivering the project in a timely and high-quality manner.

According to reports, the national data center delivered this time is located in Blantyre and is part of the second phase of the Malawi optical fiber backbone network project, which is funded by the Export-Import Bank of China.

Chen Lei, President of Huawei’s Southern Africa Region, said at the delivery ceremony that Huawei will provide free ICT training to 100 outstanding Malawi students through the “Seeds for the Future Program” this year.
