“After two years of development, 5GtoB has basically passed the initial stage of ‘0 to 1’, but there is still a key issue that needs to be solved urgently in order to move towards the scale of ‘1 to N’.” At the “Tenth Spectrum and Technology Symposium” with the theme of “Development”, Huawei’s executive director and director of the ICT Infrastructure Business Management Committee Wang Tao pointed out.

Currently, around 5GtoC business, the economic effects and social value brought by 5G are prominent; how to accelerate the development of 5GtoB and realize the full play of 5G value has become a new challenge. He said that together with operators and partners, Huawei has carried out a large number of 5GtoB project practices. Through these projects, it has been discovered that standardization is the core requirement for achieving scale replication and the key to accelerating the development of 5GtoB.

First, the solution standardization: 5GtoB involves multiple stakeholders. When facing different industries, cooperative relationships, transaction models, business models, etc. are intricate, and there is an urgent need for a one-stop standardized solution for “sales, operation, and service”, So as to improve the efficiency of collaboration, innovation and operation efficiency. Huawei is taking the lead and is building a standardized solution for customers including four parts: “5GtoB Basic Network”, “5GtoB Network Capability Opening”, “5GtoB Application Enabling” and “5GtoB Industry Market”.

Second, the standardization of industry application certification: 5G is going to a variety of industries, and prosperous industry applications are a necessary condition for the success of 5GtoB. Huawei actively explores industry applications and provides application testing and certification services through OpenLabs located in Suzhou, Xi’an and Shenzhen. In the coming year, more than 10 OpenLabs will be established to provide standardized certification services for more industry applications.

Third, the standardization of terminal certification: At present, the types of 5G terminals are insufficient and the performance is uneven. To solve these problems, it is necessary to promote the standardization of terminals. In 2020, Huawei released the first 5GtoB universal terminal and module certification standards. We are currently cooperating with 29 chip and module suppliers. In the coming year, it will promote the maturity of more than 100 modules, and promote the classification and classification of cores, molds, and terminals, and make new contributions to the standardization of terminal certification.

Fourth, the standardization of 5G application specifications in the industry: Establishing 5G application specifications in the industry is critical to the rapid promotion of 5GtoB. In the Chinese market, multiple ministries and commissions jointly issued the “Energy Field 5G Application Implementation Plan”, which is bound to accelerate the development of 5GtoB in the energy industry. Huawei is also working with global operators and industry partners to promote the formulation of specifications in the steel, port and medical industries. It has completed the preparation of 5G port machinery remote control and 5G unmanned trucking standards, and has released hospital network construction standards based on 5G technology, medical equipment communication specifications, etc.

Fifth, the standardization of SLA-oriented network planning, delivery, and operation and maintenance services: 5GtoB introduces three major changes, namely, from the public network to the private network, from the external network to the internal network, and from the office network to the production network. There is also a new demand for the network. To meet these needs, 5GtoB requires SLA-oriented full-scenario solutions, including network planning, delivery, and operation and maintenance services. To achieve 5GtoB scale replication, it is also necessary to establish a set of standardized operation tools for SLA.

“The next ten years will be the golden decade of digital transformation of the industry. We must seize this historical opportunity to solve the problem of 5GtoB scale replication. We will continue to support GTI’s work and contribute to the standardization of 5GtoB in all aspects.” At the end of his speech, Wang Tao appealed.
