On June 9, Huawei’s largest cyber security transparency center was officially opened in Dongguan, China. Regulators from GSMA, China, UAE, Indonesia, British Standards Association, SUSE, China Mobile, MTN operators and other institutions attended and participated in the event.  Speak. Taking this opportunity, Huawei released the Huawei Product Security Baseline white paper, which announced the product security requirements baseline framework and management practices to the industry for the first time, and communicated with stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, and industry standards organizations to jointly improve the industry’s overall cyber security.

In the past two years, the development of new technologies such as 5G, industry digitization, and artificial intelligence, as well as the new digital normality brought about by the epidemic, have jointly accelerated the arrival of the digital world. Cyberspace is becoming more and more complex. While enjoying the convenience brought by the digital world, people are facing unprecedented risks and threats in cyberspace. Huawei’s rotating chairman Hu Houkun said, “Under this new normal, Huawei calls on all parties to actively cooperate in professional areas such as governance structure, standards and technology, and verification, share successful practices, and enhance overall capabilities to strengthen the confidence of government regulatory agencies and the entire society in network security, and seek solutions for development and security in the digital age.”

At the opening ceremony, the representatives of various organizations participating in the meeting agreed that on a global scale, the importance of cyber security in various industries is constantly increasing, and relevant laws, regulations, and technical standards are also being continuously introduced. For example, in the field of mobile communications, the NESAS/SCAS security standards and evaluation methods led by industry organizations such as GSMA and 3GPP have become a security test baseline generally recognized in the industry, bringing more possibilities to the development and verification of network security in the communications industry. GSMA Director General Mats Granryd said, “In the 5G era, existing services and future new services are inseparable from mobile networks, and ultimately depend on the security and credibility of the underlying technologies that support these networks. GSMA has taken a series of measures which improve the security level of network equipment in the entire industry, such as the 5G network security knowledge base designed to help stakeholders understand and avoid network risks, and the industry-recognized security assurance framework NESAS.” It’s also pointed out that the entire industry is in network security governance. There is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of capabilities, technical capabilities, and coordination.

In this context, Huawei has launched the Global Network Security and Privacy Protection Transparency Center, relying on the governance and technical strength of the headquarters to provide stakeholders with three functions: “display and experience”, “communication and innovation”, and “security verification service”. The center is open to global stakeholders such as customers and third-party testing organizations. Huawei welcomes stakeholders, including customers, regulatory authorities, standards organizations, partners, and suppliers, to make full use of this platform to conduct in-depth communication, exchanges, and cooperation to jointly improve the overall industry’s security capabilities.

At the same time, as a leader in the global ICT industry, Huawei has released the Huawei Product Security Baseline white paper this time. It is based on Huawei’s practical experience in managing product safety over the past ten years, and is refined by referring to a wide range of external regulations, technical standards, and regulatory requirements. It and Huawei’s other governance mechanisms effectively ensure the safety, credibility and high quality of products. It is an important reason why Huawei has 1,500 networks in more than 170 countries around the world, serving 3 billion users, and there are no major security incidents.

Yang Xiaoning, Director of Huawei’s Global Cyber Security and User Privacy Protection Office, said: “This is the first time that Huawei has expanded its security baseline framework from core suppliers to the entire industry. We invite customers, regulators, standards organizations, technology providers, and testing institutions etc., to jointly communicate and cooperate on the baseline of network security requirements, and continuously improve and enhance the product security capabilities of the entire industry.”

“Cyber security risk is a shared responsibility,” Hu Houkun emphasized, “Governments, standards bodies, and technology providers need to work more closely at the international level to form a unified understanding of cyber security challenges, set common goals, and actively assume responsibilities to build a trustworthy digital environment to meet the challenges of reality and the future.”
