Intel’s current CEO Bob Swan will step down on February 15, 2021, and his successor will be the current VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger, who has worked at Intel for 30 years and led the development of many important products. He was appointed in 2000 as the first chief technology officer in Intel’s history. The return of Pat Gelsinger is also believed by the outside world that Intel will regain its technological confidence.

After Pat Gelsinger became Intel’s 8th CEO in 50 years, the other two veterans who have served Intel for 33 and 35 years are expected to return with the new CEO.

According to a foreign media “TechPowerUp” report, Intel announced on January 28th, Beijing time, that Sunil Shenoy was appointed as the senior vice president and general manager of the Design Engineering Group, which will take effect on February 1.

The report pointed out that Sunil Shenoy is a veteran who has worked at Intel for 33 years. He left Intel in 2014 and now returns to Intel. He will lead some key positions and jobs for projects such as the design, development, verification and manufacturing of intellectual property rights and system chips for customers and data center applications. After February 15, Sunil Shenoy will report directly to the new CEO Pat Gelsinger.

Another veteran who is about to return to Intel is Glenn Hinton, who gave birth to the Nehalem architecture and is known as the father of the Core-i7 processor. Glenn Hinton has worked at Intel for nearly 35 years. Although he has retired for 3 years, after Pat Gelsinger decided to return to Intel to take over as CEO, Glenn Hinton also revealed on his personal Linkedin page that he was ready to return to Intel to take over the high-performance CPU design business trend.

Glenn Hinton also further explained on the Linkedin page that the main reason for returning to Intel was that Pat Gelsinger’s decision to take over as Intel’s chief executive made him decide to return to his old company.
