On January 21, Huawei Marine Networks (HMN) announced that it had won more than 100 contracts, including new construction and expansion and upgrading projects. In 2019, the stable performance of more than 10 contracts will bring significant growth to global submarine cable suppliers. At the same time, individual business case transmission projects have also become pioneering applications of the latest technologies, such as 16-fiber pair repeaters and WSS Roadm BU.

According to cumulative engineering calculations, Huawei Ocean Network has obtained 104 substantive contracts since its establishment. The latest contract is the Hainan-Hong Kong System Optical Cable Project. This new project will connect Hong Kong SAR, Hainan Province and Zhuhai. The business case fiber optic cable deployment part uses the latest 16-fiber-to-SDM repeater to improve system capacity and optimize the performance of the system. In this project, HMN also provided an open optical cable system and 200G coding technology. This advance application provides a mature case for Huawei’s marine customers and brings technological innovations to the submarine fiber optic field.

In 2019, HMN won various solution contracts in the global market, including relay systems for longer distances in Africa, and non-relay projects to establish national backbone networks for island countries. These customized solutions can meet different customer requirements and bring business success to customers.

The number of the above contracts expires on January 21, and it is worth noting that on February 18, Huawei Oceans announced that it has won a new contract. It will undertake the Maldives-Sri Lanka Cable Project (MSC). It is an optical 4-fiber pair system, located in the northern Indian Ocean, directly connected to Hulhumale, the eastern island of Maldives, and Mount Lavinia, the western city of Sri Lanka.
