On September 10, the foundation-laying ceremony of the Nanjing Science and Technology Innovation Center of Cambridge University was held in Nanjing Jiangbei New District. Zhang Jinghua, member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee, Stephen Top, President of the University of Cambridge, Ma Qiulin, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province, Alice Feilun, Vice President of the University of Cambridge, and leaders of key universities in China attended the event. Cui Genliang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hengtong Group, was invited to attend the ceremony and delivered a speech at the China Partnership Building Forum of the University of Cambridge.

It is reported that the Nanjing Science and Technology Innovation Center of the University of Cambridge is the first cooperative research institution established outside the UK and the only scientific and technological innovation center of the University of Cambridge in China. The center adopts a new cooperation model and promotes high-end innovation research and development, transformation of results, international academic exchanges, and promotes the accumulation of global innovation resources through deep cooperation with Jiangbei New District International Health City.

At the subsequent Cambridge China Partnership Building Forum, Cui Genliang delivered a keynote speech and was responsible for the heads of Cambridge University, some companies and R&D institutions, the cooperation between Cambridge University and China, and the operation of the Nanjing University Science and Technology Innovation Center of Cambridge University.  And other topics to carry out specific discussions.

In his speech, Cui Genliang said that today, on a global scale, a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is undergoing a sudden change, and the industrial revolution led by artificial intelligence is deliberately prepared. Under this background, Cambridge University has established a science and technology center in China. It is of epoch-making significance, showing the University of Cambridge’s responsiveness to the global trend, positioning the global vision of global development and global responsibility, demonstrating Cambridge’s role as a technology engine for China’s economy, creating a model of cooperation between world-renowned universities and China, and greatly promoting Jiangsu’s “one center”. “One base” construction (industry technology innovation center with global influence and advanced manufacturing base with international competitiveness).

At the meeting, Cui Genliang gave a general exposition of the development of Hengtong and the multi-level independent innovation system of enterprises. According to Cui Genliang, as a private enterprise in Jiangsu, Hengtong Group is a system integrator and network service provider focusing on global fiber optic network, energy Internet construction, investment and operation. Internationalization and technological innovation have become the driving engine for promoting the sustainable development of Hengtong.
