Monaco Telecom’s official website has begun to introduce 5G technology in a prominent position, indicating that Monaco’s private and commercial customers will be able to use this new technology on 5G-compatible smartphones. The mobile phone recommended by the official website is the Huawei Mate20 X mobile phone supporting 5G technology.
In the 5G signal usage paradigm presented in Monaco, experts showcased their bus shelters with wireless networks; Monaco firefighters will also have drones capable of playing 4K quality images in real time.
Monaco Telecom and Huawei formally signed a 5G cooperation agreement in early September 2018 to commit to 5G full coverage in Monaco. The two parties signed a 5G cooperation memorandum of understanding in Barcelona, Spain, in February 2019.
Although the US government is concerned about potential security risks, Martin Peronnet, CEO of Monaco Telecom, still defends the decision to cooperate with Chinese suppliers.
