Yesterday, at the China Tower Exchange Symposium, Ma Wu, general manager of the China Tower’s headquarters marketing department, revealed that with the official issuance of 5G commercial licenses, domestic 5G construction has entered the fast lane. Only China Tower, from January to May this year, has already undertaken 55,000 construction requirements for the five major operators.

Ma Wu said that China Tower will rely on resources, services and cost advantages to continuously improve the core capabilities of site planning, pooling resources, room sharing, construction and maintenance, and meet the needs of 5G construction quickly and at low cost.

In the aspect of 5G co-construction and sharing, the construction plan should be adopted according to local conditions. For example, in the hotspot area, the principle of coexistence of multiple networks should be established, and the network should be built independently according to the needs to meet the 5G differentiated competition. For the remote rural areas, the network should be supported. Home enterprises share a network; indoor areas will achieve one network coverage, and multiple enterprises will jointly build and share an indoor network. The same frequency band can also be shared by one building.

Up to now, the total number of towers that the China Tower has rebuilt and newly delivered has exceeded 1.6 million, and the total number of sites has reached 1.848 million. The new site sharing rate has increased from 14% to 75%, which is equivalent to reducing the number of thousands of  repeated tower constructions, saving industry investment of about 121.1 billion yuan, saving more than 34,000 acres of land; covering the total length of high-speed rail more than 18,000 kilometers, covering the total length of the subway over 2880 kilometers. And the total coverage of indoor distribution system is more than 1.6 billion square meters.
