Corning celebrates the establishment of the Montreal Software Innovation Center
Corning recently officially established a research and development center in Montreal, Canada to explore and develop solutions for the telecommunications industry.
The Corning Montreal Technology Center will serve as a Corning Global Software Innovation Center supporting emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, cloud computing and data analytics, and wireless fiber optic network software solutions. Software engineers at Corning’s R&D and engineering division will work with developers at iBwave Solutions, a local network software solutions provider in Montreal that was acquired in 2015.
The Montreal Center joins Corning’s network of R&D laboratories in North America, Europe and Asia, supported by the Sullivan Park Innovation Center in Corning, New York. In the next three to five years, Corning plans to recruit software engineers, development team managers and data analysts for the Montreal Center.

The initial focus of the Montreal Center will be on software solutions for telecommunications networks to help Corning’s customers discover the business opportunities of emerging technologies. The center will eventually become a software innovation center for all of Corning’s business units.

The Corning Montreal Technology Center builds links with the software innovation community in the region by becoming a member of the Montreal Data Evaluation Institute (IVADO). The Institute is responsible for data science, operations research and artificial intelligence.
